Craft your own Masterpiece with this year's Limited Editions
Time to order yours now December 5th, 2011 deadline Impart your personal artistic touch on this year's five Selection Limited Edition varieties. Each year Winexpert produces only a limited quantity of five fabulous and unique varieties from around the world from January through April. These very special wines are only available during their month of release and are so immensely popular that they can be acquired by pre-order only. January - Washington Meritage A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Verdot, this wine features great extract, deep colour and intense aromatics of dark berry fruit, cassis, peppery spice, cedar and smoke. The seductive nose of this wine foreshadows magnificent texture and flavour including dark berries, liquorice, vanilla and warm brown spices that glide across the palate. The texture and mouthfeel of the wine offers up silky tannins and a velvety smooth structure. Sweetness Code: (0) (dry)
South African Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon Sauvignon Blanc has wild, herbaceous flavours and tart, grapefuit-like character, which shows strongly in the young wine, while Semillon has flavours of honeydew melon and sweet honey that take a bit longer to come out. Together the two grapes make a lush, balanced wine with great up-front fruit and a satisfying, rich finish. Sweetness Code: (0) (dry) February - California Petite Sirah/Zinfandel Grippingly tannic, bold and deeply coloured Petite Sirah complements the jamminess of Zinfandel, taming the abundant blueberries and blackberries with a hint of dark cherry and vanilla. Full-bodied with a lingering palate and peppery spice, this is a wine of unprecedented power and length. Sweetness Code: (0) (dry) March - German Traminer Spatlese Traminer is the parent of the more familiar Gewurztraminer and Spatlese is a German wine term meaning 'late harvest', indicating a wine made from fully mature grapes that are picked at least 7 days after normal harvest, so they are riper and have higher sugar levels. This is a gently golden-coloured wine, unmistakable in its heady, aromatic intensity, with a pungent fragrance of lychee, tropical fruit and rose petals. Its flavours are ample, lusciously fruity and spicy. Sweetness Code: (1) (off-dry) April - Spanish Matador Trio Red Tempranillo are deep blue-black berries, high in colour and extract, with delicate aromas. Cabernet Sauvignon's small berries yield high tannins and intense structure, while Monastrell adds grip, earthiness and ripe red fruit. Lush, tannic and complex, with intense black fruit flavours of black cherry, raspberry, black currant and notes of plums and tobacco, the wine takes gracefully to oak, adding layers of vanilla, cedar and rich coffee nuances. Sweetness Code: (0) (dry) ______________________________________________________

Introducing an International Sensation Crushed Grape Skins The introduction of a grapeskin pack to our premium Selection International enhances not only the body, mouthfeel, tannin and colour of the wine, it does so without increasing the need for extra ageing. These wines drink very well soon after bottling, and will improve on the same scale as regular Selection International: 6-12 months to achieve a high peak of flavour, and improvement for several years under good cellaring. Chilean Malbec-Shiraz with Grapeskins - Displays a balance between ripeness and power, with intensely rich Shiraz grapes for a bold ruby purple colour, deep, dark plum and blackberry aromas showing subtle accents of chocolate. Malbec brings plum, blackcurrant and violet aromas leading to a slight touch of leather notes. Full-bodied and classically, the gripping tannins linger to an elegant finish of toasty oak and spice. Serve with roasted meats, rich stews, or try it with bittersweet chocolate--this wine can stand up, or stand alone, and will age gorgeously. Oak - Med Body - Med/Full
Sweetness - 0 Alcohol by volume - 13.0-13.5% Spanish Tempranillo with Grapeskins - shows the black cherry, raspberry, plum and tobacco notes of the varietal, but the wine tends towards lushness and an overflowing of soft, ripe tannins, rather than bright fruit. Vanilla and spice notes in the oak give way to a beguiling hint of dark coffee on the finish. Medium-to-full bodied, it will drink well under three months, and will soften impressively after six months to a year in the bottle. Serve with tapas, like grilled chorizo rich tomato dishes like Moussaka or even grilled sardines. Oak - Heavy Body - Med-Full Sweetness - 0 Alcohol by volume - 13.013.5% Australian Petite Verdot with Grapeskins - Best described as a 'Super-Cabernet', this is a dark, rich wine, with wonderfully concentrated flavours of juicy blackberry and blackcurrant, with smooth, gripping tannins and an elegant structure leading to a magnificent, boldly oaked finish. With intense fruit-forward character, this wine drinks well immediately and it will fully round out in only three months, delivering intense fruit and richness. Serve with grilled steak, roasted lamb, or try it with bittersweet chocolate. Oak - Med-Heavy Body - 4 Medium Full Sweetness - 0 Alcohol by volume - 13.0-13.5% Sicilian Nero d'Avola with Grapeskins - This is a deep garnet, and shows ripe, berrylike fruit aromas lent complexity by hints of toast and smoke. The palate features flavours of fresh blackberries, dark chocolate, and a little bit of anise. There's sufficient acidity to give it structure, but the overall impression is soft as velvet. The finish is long and smooth, with ripe and appealing fruit and surprising complexity in the nose. A great wine for hard cheeses, rare red meats and stews. Oak - Med-Heavy Body - 4 Medium Full Sweetness - 0 Alcohol by volume - 13.0-13.5%
